According to a 2022–23 report by the Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) of Rajasthan, 11 urban towns in the state have unpotable water supplies.
Under the “Swabhiman Jal” program, Jawahar Foundation has installed a multi-stage, hi-tech water filtration plant at two locations in Rajasthan, which are Banera (Bhilwara) and Sursura (Ajmer), on May 21st and May 22nd, 2022, respectively. These centers will provide safe, affordable, and clean water to everyone and are capable of removing all forms of water contamination, including Fluoride, Arsenic, Iron, Microbiological, and Suspended Impurities.
Each household is issued a Swabhiman Jal smart card, which will be used by the beneficiary to avail of the facility, and we have issued more than 1100 Swabhiman Jal smart cards so far.
The initiative is part of the dream project of Mr. Riju Jhunjhunwala, which is to provide clean water and nutritious food to the people of Rajasthan. After addressing the issue of food security through the Jawahar Foundation’s popular community kitchen program “Swabhiman Bhoj,” this water ATM project is the fruit of Mr. Jhunjhunwala’s commitment toward the people of Rajasthan to ensure they get affordable and clean drinking water.
